Gannawarra Waterfront Masterplans Project

Client: Gannawarra Shire Council

Urban Enterprise was engaged by Gannawarra Shire Council to prepare concept masterplans for four waterfront precincts in the Shire including the Koondrook precinct on the Murray River and Gunbower Creek, Cohuna on the Gunbower Creek and Kangaroo Lake and Lake Charm.

The aim of the masterplans was to identify projects that would lead to strong economic development outcomes for Gannawarra Shire, maximising tourism, recreation, commercial and residential opportunities. The project included significant consultation with community groups and precinct users as well as a market assessment to inform proposed masterplan interventions.

The masterplans were adopted by Council and have been successful in attracting State government funding for a number of projects proposed in the masterplans including streetscaping and foreshore works in Cohuna (boardwalks, jetties, BBQ shelters, footpaths and beach area on the Cohuna foreshore), foreshore and other works in Koondrook (new linking roads, car parking, footpaths, pedestrian bridge and an all abilities play space) and foreshore works to Kangaroo Lake.
