Wodonga Activity Centre Retail Hierarchy Strategy

Client: City of Wodonga

The City of Wodonga engaged Urban Enterprise to undertake an Activity Centre Retail Hierarchy Strategy for the municipality.

The Strategy provided an overview of the policy and strategy relevant to development and growth in retail and Activity Centres in the City of Wodonga, an overview of trends influencing the retail industry in Australia and Albury/Wodonga.

A demographic and economic profile of Wodonga was undertaken to identify the forecast changes to the resident and working population and the implications on the demand for retail.

Lastly, the Strategy provided guidance on the overall scale of retail floorspace that could be supported in Wodonga’s Activity Centres over the next 20 years. This was informed by an assessment of future demand for retail floorspace in the City, which considered the location and timing of population and dwelling growth in the adopted retail catchment areas and estimates for the growth in retail expenditure and market share.
